Land beside Everest in a single morning. This Everest Base Camp helicopter tour leaves Kathmandu at dawn, flies over Lukla, Tengboche and the Khumbu Glacier, and touches down on the side of Kala Patthar (about 5,545m) for the classic front-face view of Everest, with Base Camp and the Khumbu Icefall below. On the way back you stop at Hotel Everest View, one of the highest hotels in the world, for coffee or breakfast with a 360-degree panorama of the Himalayas.
The tour is private, with hotel transfers to and from the airport, and you are back in Kathmandu by midday. Because of high-altitude performance limits, groups of up to five are split into shorter shuttle flights from Pheriche, with two guests flying to Base Camp at a time. Landings are brief, weather-dependent and decided by the pilot, so the day can be adjusted for safety. It is the fastest way to stand near the world's highest mountain without trekking for days.
Early Morning: Your day begins with a private transfer from your hotel to the Domestic Terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport for boarding and a safety briefing.
The Flight: Take off for a stunning flight to Lukla. After a brief stop in Lukla to off load fuel (to keep the helicopter light at high elevation) we will fly to Pheriche. This is the staging point as helicopters can only bring 2 guests at a time to Everest Base Camp. The helicopter will make two short flights to Everest Base Camp so everyone can get a great view.
The Everest Flyover: Reach the climax of your journey as you soar over Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar. You’ll enjoy unmatched, close-up views of the Khumbu Icefall, the South Col, and the towering summit of Mount Everest.
Everest Landing: You will get a brief landing of just a few minutes on the side of Kala Patthar to take pictures of Base Camp and Everest and the amazing mountain views. The helicopter will stay running and waiting for you.
High-Altitude Breakfast: On the return land at the legendary Hotel Everest View, the highest hotel in the world. You’ll have ample time to enjoy coffee or breakfast (additional cost) while surrounded by a 360-degree panorama of Himalayan giants.
The Return: After a final refueling stop in Lukla, you’ll fly back to Kathmandu, witnessing the transition from high-altitude peaks back to the lush green valleys of the capital.
Midday: Arrive back at Kathmandu Airport and enjoy a private drive back to your hotel to reflect on your lifetime experience.
Note: This is the typical schedule. The actual schedule may vary at the discretion of the pilot and will be optimized to ensure your safety. For instance you may land at Everest View Hotel to wait before continuing.
Note: As per the new rule of the Nepal government, helicopters are not allowed to land at Kalapatthar or Everest Basecamp. But a helicopter can land at Gorekshep and fly over the Kalapatthar and Everest Basecamp (**subjected to any change in the near future).
