The state of Uttarakhand is the delight of the adventure traveler. Ascend to the Kuari Pass and take in the views of Nandi Deva, India's highest peak. Trek to Gangotri Glacier the source of the famous Ganga River. Follow the path of the Chota Char Dham, a holy pilgrimage for the Hindus transverseing Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. The best time to Visit is in April and May and post-Monsoon in late September to the start of November. Bordered by Nepal to the East and Himachal Pradesh to the northwest the state is divided into two divisions Kumaon (East) and Garhwal (West). Most travelers access the region through the capital Dehradun which is accessible via air and rail from Delhi. Some of India's most famous hill stations are found in the region and include; Mussoorie, Nainital, Dhanaulti, Lansdowne, Sattal, Almora, Kausani, Bhimtal, and Ranikhet. The hill stations are delightful places to enjoy the mountains and relax but the more adventurous will adventure beyond to explore the trekking options in this part of the Himalaya.
