Best time for Dorje Lakpa views and climbing

3 min readUpdated 23 Oct 2026By the Base Camp Hikes trek team

The best time to see Dorje Lakpa and the Jugal Himal is October to November, when the air is clear, or March to May, when it is warmer. The monsoon brings leeches, cloud and landslides, and winter brings snow and cold at high points.

Autumn

Clear skies and stable weather. This is the best season for views.

Spring

Warm days and flowering rhododendrons in the lower forest. Haze can build in the afternoon.

Winter

Cold but often clear. Snow can block high passes. See Langtang in monsoon and winter.

Monsoon

Rain, cloud and landslides. Leeches are common on forest trails.

Timing

Allow spare days for roads and weather. See the best time for Langtang.

Temperatures

In the villages, autumn days are mild and nights cool. At high camps, nights are below freezing. Winter nights are colder.

Flexible planning

Roads can be slow, and weather can close routes. Plan buffer days around travel.
