Kalinchowk is best known as a winter snow destination, with snow most likely from December to February. Autumn (September to November) is clear without snowfall, spring (March to May) has limited snow, and the monsoon (June to August) is not recommended.
Winter snow
Snow usually falls from December to February, when the temple area is covered and visitors come to play in it. Cold is severe at night, so pack proper winter layers.
Autumn and spring
Autumn gives clear air and good views without snow. Spring has limited snow and rhododendron in bloom on the lower slopes.
Monsoon
Heavy rain and slippery paths make the monsoon a poor time to go.
Safety after snowfall
The road to Kuri can become difficult after fresh snow, and a four-wheel-drive may be needed. Avoid starting the climb before sunrise on icy trails after fresh snowfall. Ask your driver and guide about conditions the day before.
