Tilicho Peak: quick logistics answers

1 min read

How do I reach the start?

You drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and continue by road and trail to Manang. Your operator arranges transport.

Are there lodges on the way?

Yes, up to Manang and Tilicho Base Camp. Higher up you sleep in tents.

Where can I leave extra luggage?

Most Kathmandu hotels store luggage during your expedition. Ask when you book.

How much cash should I bring?

Bring enough Nepali rupees for the trail, since ATMs are limited. Your guide can suggest an amount.

Do I need special insurance?

Yes. Choose a policy that covers climbing above 7,000 m and helicopter evacuation. Check exclusions carefully.

How much spare time should I keep?

Several spare days for the summit window and the return, plus a buffer at the end for flights or pass weather.

Can I rent gear in Kathmandu?

Yes, but check the quality of high-altitude items, and bring your own boots and layers.
