Timbung Pokhari is in Taplejung District, the same district that is the gateway to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek, so the two trips share an airport run and a long road journey. The lake is a shorter, separate trek, and it is not on the way to Kanchenjunga Base Camp.
Same district, different trek
Taplejung is the starting district for the Kanchenjunga trek. Timbung Pokhari is a separate pilgrimage-lake trek to a high lake, not a stage of the base camp trek. See the Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek guides.
Getting to eastern Nepal
Most itineraries fly to Bhadrapur and drive. The Kanchenjunga region also has an airfield at Suketar, which flies only when conditions allow. See getting to the Kanchenjunga region.
Which to choose
Choose Timbung Pokhari for a shorter, culture-led trek to a sacred lake. Choose Kanchenjunga Base Camp for a long mountain trek. See the Kanchenjunga mountain guides for what you see on that route.
Other options nearby
See the Jannu, Kumbhakarna and Kabru guides for the big peaks south of Kanchenjunga.
