The Timbung Pokhari trek is graded moderate, with long days, camping at the high camp and a final altitude above 4,300 m. Sources give the trekking season as March to October, with snow making it hard from about November to February, and local tips favour late September to mid-October.
Permits
Operator pages say permits and paperwork are included but do not name them. Ask your agency in writing which permits and local entry fees it has arranged. See the Kanchenjunga permits and getting there guide for the neighbouring route.
Difficulty
The grade is moderate. Walking days are about 3 to 7 hours, and the high camp and the lake are above 3,600 m. No technical climbing is needed.
Altitude
Plan an easy first day on foot, drink plenty of water and descend if you have a worsening headache or nausea. The lake is above 4,300 m.
Seasons
Roads and trails are usable from about March to October, and the monsoon months of July and August bring pilgrims and heavy rain. Late September to mid-October is a popular window with clearer views.
Getting there
Most itineraries fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and drive. See the Kanchenjunga region notes.
