Chulu peaks permits, cost and best time

3 min readUpdated 23 Oct 2026By the Base Camp Hikes trek team

You need a climbing permit through the Nepal Mountaineering Association and Annapurna Conservation Area permits. Fees and rules change, so we give a written price for your dates. The best seasons are April to May and October to November.

Permits

Trekking peak permits are issued through the Nepal Mountaineering Association, in addition to the conservation area and TIMS permits.

Cost

Costs depend on days, group size, Sherpa support and season. Ask for a written price.

Best time

Autumn gives the clearest weather, and spring has a longer day. Winter and monsoon are difficult.

Insurance

Choose a policy that covers climbing to 6,500 m and helicopter evacuation.

Temperatures

On summit day, expect very cold wind. Pack accordingly.

Combining with the Circuit

Many climbers add the Thorong La crossing. Ask us about a combined plan.
