Everest View trek: quick logistics answers

1 min read

How do I get to the trailhead?

Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, a short flight that usually leaves early in the morning. At busy times flights may operate from a different airport, so ask your operator.

What is the luggage limit?

It is small, often around 15 kg including hand luggage. Pack light and leave extra items at your Kathmandu hotel. Confirm the current limit with your operator.

What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?

Flights depend on weather, so a spare day is wise at the start and end. Your operator will rebook you, and a helicopter may be an option for an extra cost.

Where can I store extra luggage?

Most Kathmandu hotels store luggage during your trek. Ask in advance.

How much cash should I carry?

Bring enough Nepali rupees for drinks, snacks, showers, charging, wifi and tips, since ATMs above Namche are unreliable.

Can I rent gear?

Yes. Down jackets, sleeping bags and poles can be rented in Kathmandu or Namche. Check quality and fit.

Are tips expected?

Tips for guides and porters are customary. Agree an approach with your operator and carry cash for it.
