Best time for Ganesh Himal and Ruby Valley treks

3 min readUpdated 23 Oct 2026By the Base Camp Hikes trek team

The best seasons are March to May and October to November. Spring has rhododendrons, and autumn has clear views. Winter is cold at higher camps, and the monsoon brings leeches and slippery trails.

Spring

Flowers and warm days, with good morning views.

Autumn

Clear skies and dry trails. The most popular time.

Winter

Cold at night, with quiet trails. Lower sections are fine.

Monsoon

Wet, with leeches and landslides. We do not recommend it.

Temperatures

Days are mild in spring and autumn. Nights are cool at higher camps. Winter brings frost.

Planning around festivals

Dashain and Tihar in autumn affect transport and lodges, so plan a few extra days or avoid them.
