Kajin Sara Lake in Manang District is reported at about 5,020 m (some sources say about 5,000 m) and was found by a group of mountaineers. Its status as one of the world's highest lakes has been reported by news outlets but is not officially confirmed. Kapuche Lake near Sikles, at about 2,500 m, is often called a very low glacial lake.
Kajin Sara
Kajin Sara lies in Chame rural municipality, Manang District. News reports give its elevation as about 5,020 m, and describe it as about 1,500 m long and 600 m wide. It was reported by a group of mountaineers, and reports say it may be higher than Tilicho Lake, but that has not been officially confirmed. Treat all claims as provisional.
Getting to Kajin Sara
One account describes a jeep ride from Besisahar to Chame, then a climb to Lamjung Himal Base Camp (about 3,760 m), a high camp at about 4,750 m, and a short walk to the lake, with about four days in all. Shelters are basic and trekkers must bring their own food and sleeping gear. This is a serious high-altitude trek, not a casual walk.
Kapuche
Kapuche Lake is reached from Sikles, a Gurung village north of Pokhara. The trek takes two to three days, and the lake is quoted at about 2,500 m (2,546 m in one source, 2,450 m in another). Calling it the lowest glacial lake in the world is a claim we could not verify.
How to treat the claims
Records for highest or lowest lakes depend on surveys that may not exist. Enjoy the places, and be careful about repeating superlatives. We write "reported" or "described as" for both lakes.
