How do I reach the start of the trek?
You drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, and continue by road and trail through the Marsyangdi valley. Your operator arranges transport, and parts of the journey may use jeeps.
Is there a flight?
Not to the start. A flight from Jomsom to Pokhara is common if you cross Thorong La, and weather can delay it.
Where can I leave extra luggage?
Most Kathmandu hotels store luggage while you are on the climb. Ask when you book.
How much cash should I bring?
Bring enough Nepali rupees for drinks, snacks, showers, charging and tips, because ATMs on the route are unreliable.
Can I rent gear in Kathmandu?
Yes. Technical gear and warm clothing can be rented. Check quality and fit and test items before you leave.
Are there teahouses on the way?
Yes, lodges are available in the villages up to Pisang and in Manang. Above that you sleep in tents at base camp and high camp.
How much spare time should I keep?
One spare day for the summit, and one or two at the end for flights or road delays.
