Limi Valley is a restricted area, so you need a special permit arranged by a registered agency, and a licensed guide. You reach it by flying from Kathmandu to Nepalganj and on to Simikot. Fees and rules change, so confirm them for your dates.
Permits
Trekking in Limi needs a restricted-area permit, normally charged by the week, and a licensed guide. The fee and the rules have changed in the past. Your agency arranges the paperwork in Kathmandu, and you will need passport copies and photos.
Flights
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalganj, a hot town in the plains, and from there to Simikot. These are small-plane flights that depend on weather and demand, and delays are common. Book flights early and allow spare days.
Staying in Simikot
Simikot has basic lodges. Use your first night to check gear, meet your crew and start acclimatising.
Food and supplies
Supplies are limited above Simikot, so food and fuel are usually carried in. Bring snacks, a water filter and a good sleeping bag.
Communication
Mobile signal is limited. Tell your family to expect days without contact. A satellite messenger is a good idea.
Documents to carry
Carry your passport, permit copies, insurance details and emergency contacts. Keep a copy in a separate bag.
Delays and refunds
Flight delays are common in Nepal. Check your insurance for travel delay cover, and ask us how we handle delays on this route.
