The best seasons for the Tamang Heritage Trail are March to May and October to November. Spring brings rhododendrons, and autumn brings clear views. Winter is cold but quiet, and the monsoon makes roads and trails slippery.
Spring
Forests flower in March and April, and the views are clear in the morning.
Autumn
October and November are dry, clear and warm in the day, and this is the most popular time.
Winter
December to February are cold at night, but the lower route is walkable.
Monsoon
June to September are wet, with landslides on the road.
Temperatures and views
Spring and autumn days are mild. Views of Langtang peaks are best in the morning. Winter nights can be cold in villages above 2,500 m.
Festival seasons
Autumn festivals such as Dashain and Tihar can affect road travel and lodge availability. Ask us about dates.
