Best time to climb Pokalde Peak

3 min readUpdated 23 Oct 2026By the Base Camp Hikes trek team

The best seasons to climb Pokalde are April to May and October to November. Skies are clearer and temperatures are workable. Winter is very cold and the monsoon brings cloud, snow and unreliable flights.

Spring

April and May have long days and stable weather, with warmer temperatures at lower camps. The snow is usually good.

Autumn

October and November have clear skies and cold nights. Many climbers choose this season.

Winter

December to February are very cold, with short days and strong winds.

Monsoon

June to September have cloud, rain at lower altitudes and heavy snow higher up. Flights to Lukla are often delayed.

Temperatures and gear

On summit day, expect well below freezing and wind. Pack accordingly, with warm layers and an insulated jacket.

Flights and delays

Lukla flights are most reliable in the clear seasons. Keep a spare day at both ends.
