Baruntse is climbed on an expedition permit, with a liaison officer and park fees, so costs are higher than for a trekking peak. Exact fees change, so we give a written price for your dates. Insurance must cover climbing at 7,000 m and rescue.
Permit
Because Baruntse is above the trekking-peak list, it is climbed on an expedition permit issued by the Nepal authorities. The royalty depends on the season and changes over time.
Park fees
The Makalu Barun National Park or Sagarmatha National Park fees apply, depending on your route.
Team and gear
A guide, climbing Sherpas, cook crew and porters are normal, with tents, fixed rope and group gear.
Extras
Some climbers use supplementary oxygen on summit day as a safety measure. Insurance and personal gear are extra.
What drives the price
The number of days, the number of Sherpa climbers, whether you use supplementary oxygen and how big the team is all change the price. Ask us for a written price for your dates.
Insurance
Choose a policy that covers expedition climbing to 7,000 m and helicopter evacuation, and read it carefully for exclusions.
