Best time to climb Baruntse

3 min readUpdated 23 Oct 2026By the Base Camp Hikes trek team

The best seasons for Baruntse are April to May and October to November. Spring is slightly warmer and has longer days, and autumn has clearer air. Winter is too cold, and the monsoon brings snow and cloud.

Spring

April and May have long days and decent weather. This is when most commercial teams go.

Autumn

October and November have clear skies, with colder nights. The window can close quickly in late November.

Winter and monsoon

Winter brings strong wind and extreme cold. The monsoon brings cloud, heavy snow and avalanche danger.

Weather windows

Spring windows are shorter and more crowded, autumn ones are quieter but colder. In both seasons, plan spare days.

What the wind does

High wind on the ridge can stop a summit attempt. Your guide will watch forecasts and conditions carefully.
