The route
The trail drops to the Kimrong Khola, crosses it, then climbs to Jhinu Danda, where natural hot springs lie beside the river below the village.
Altitude and health
This section stays below about 3,000 m, so altitude sickness is unlikely, though heat, humidity and fatigue still matter. Altitudes vary by a few tens of metres between maps and guidebooks.
Tips
The hot springs are a few hundred steps below the village. Bring a towel and spare clothes.
Common questions
- Are there hot springs? Yes, at Jhinu Danda, near the Modi Khola.
- Is Jhinu on the ABC trail? Yes, it lies on the route to Chhomrong.
Reverse direction
Walking Jhinu Danda to Ghandruk is the same trail in reverse and means a net climb, so allow more time than the walk down and set a slower pace.
