Altitude and health
Part of this section is at or above 3,000 m, so altitude sickness is possible. Walk slowly, drink water, avoid alcohol and tell your guide about headaches, nausea or poor sleep. Descend if symptoms worsen. Altitudes vary by a few tens of metres between maps and guidebooks.
Tips
Spend time at Ghorepani Deurali, which has a quieter feel and good views.
Common questions
- Is there a direct trail? No, trekkers go back to Ghorepani first.
- Is this Deurali the same as the one on the ABC trail? No. The name is common in Nepal. This one is on the Ghorepani ridge.
Reverse direction
Walking Deurali to Poon Hill is the same trail in reverse and means a net climb, so allow more time than the walk down and set a slower pace.
