The route
The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki, crossing the river on suspension bridges and passing through forest, Sal trees and a few small villages. A steep ridge section above the river is the main climb.
Altitude and health
This section stays below about 3,000 m, so altitude sickness is unlikely, though heat, humidity and fatigue still matter. Altitudes vary by a few tens of metres between maps and guidebooks.
Tips
It is hot and humid in the lower valley. Carry plenty of water, watch for leeches in the wet season and expect landslide-affected sections after rain.
