The Chhomrong to Sinuwa section of the Annapurna Base Camp trek runs from about 2,170 m to about 2,360 m. Typical time is 2 to 3 hours, rated moderate. That is a net gain of roughly 190 m, but with a big drop and climb on the way.

- End: Sinuwa, about 2,360 m
- Change: a net gain of roughly 190 m, but with a big drop and climb on the way
- Typical time: 2 to 3 hours

The route
The trail leaves Chhomrong down the long stone staircase to the Chhomrong Khola, crosses it, then climbs steeply up the far side to Sinuwa. The steps down are knee-hard and the climb after the bridge is the real work, so the net gain looks small and the day feels bigger.
Altitude and health
This section stays below about 3,000 m, so altitude sickness is unlikely, though heat, humidity and fatigue still matter. Altitudes vary by a few tens of metres between maps and guidebooks.
Tips
Start early, take the downhill steps slowly and keep poles handy. Many people treat this as the first stretch of the longer day on to Dovan.
Common questions
- Is Sinuwa a good overnight stop? It can be, but most groups continue on to Bamboo or Dovan. Check the day plan with your guide.
- Is this section hard? It is short, but the stone steps and the climb back up make it tiring.
Reverse direction
Walking Sinuwa to Chhomrong is the same trail in reverse. It is usually quicker because it is mostly downhill, but a long descent is hard on the knees, so poles help.
