The route
A forest section along the ridge, with steps up and down and views of the Modi Khola valley. Bamboo is a small settlement of lodges in bamboo forest.
Altitude and health
This section stays below about 3,000 m, so altitude sickness is unlikely, though heat, humidity and fatigue still matter. Altitudes vary by a few tens of metres between maps and guidebooks.
Tips
The forest is damp, and leeches can appear in the wet season. Wear long socks and carry a rain layer.
Common questions
- Is Bamboo a good place to stay? It is a common stop, and many groups choose it to shorten the next day.
- Is the trail steep? It rises and falls, but the net change is small.
Reverse direction
Walking Bamboo to Sinuwa is the same trail in reverse and means a net climb, so allow more time than the walk down and set a slower pace.
