The route
The trail climbs steadily through bamboo and rhododendron forest, with a few stream crossings and stone steps, to the small settlement of Dovan.
Altitude and health
This section stays below about 3,000 m, so altitude sickness is unlikely, though heat, humidity and fatigue still matter. Altitudes vary by a few tens of metres between maps and guidebooks.
Tips
Rain or snow can make the stones slippery. Take it slowly on the steps.
Common questions
- How far is Dovan from Bamboo? Around 1.5 to 2 hours of walking at a normal pace.
- Is Dovan a village? It is a cluster of lodges on the trail.
